Sue Foley/Peter Karp

EOH presents Sue Foley and Peter Karp on Saturday, August 7 at 8 pm.

Gifted songwriter and American troubadour, Peter Karp, is a master songsmith with an art for spinning true-to-life emotions, humor, and candor. With an upbringing that was equal parts southern Alabama and the swamps of New Jersey, Karp’s music is fueled by the Yankee-Rebel juxtaposition.

Sue Foley is considered to be one of the finest blues/roots artists working today. Her first CD “Young Girl Blues” quickly established her unique talents as a blues guitarist and songwriter. She honed her craft with her paisley Telecastor and working/sharing the stage with such artists as BB King, Buddy Guy, Lucinda Williams and Tom Petty. After moving back to Canada Sue won the prestigious Juno award for her CD “Love Coming Down.”

Rome Community Theater Summer Children's Show, "There's a Monster in My Closet"

Performances - August 12, 13, 14 at 7 PM and Sunday, August 15 at 2:30 PM.

Fantasy and reality collide in this eclectic and fun musical romp! Emily’s having a sleepover with her best friend Stephanie when they discover there’s a monster in her closet! To investigate further (despite the incessant teasing of her big brother and his friends), Emily and Stephanie recruit their friends—sarcastic and skeptical Kelly, vain Mary, studious Brain, tomboy Tara and avid reader Megan—to help capture the monster. What they don’t know is that Murray, the closet monster, doesn’t mean any harm. He only wants to play Emily’s new video game. He’s more scared of kids than they are of him! Murray is on probation since his boss, the Dream King, heard about his goofing off on the job. After all, every monster knows that when a child is born, a monster is assigned to watch over her—not play with her things! What happens when Emily has all her friends over for a slumber party to try to capture Murray? They end up catching the Dream King and his harried secretary, Toady, instead! With other wonderfully entertaining characters like Sandy the Sandman and his dream weavers, find out how friendship, ingenuity and a sprinkling of magic lead to a delightful solution to Emily’s monster problem.

Ralph Stanley & the Clinch Mountain Boys

EOH presents Ralph Stanley & the Clinch Mountain Boys on August 21 at 8 pm.

Ralph Stanley’s voice is not of this century nor of the last one, for that matter. Its stark emotional urgency is rooted in a darker time, when pain was the common coin of life and the world offered sinful humanity no hope of refuge. Preserved in the cultural amber of remote Appalachia, this terse, forlorn sound is the bedrock of Stanley’s inimitable style. But don’t mistake an ancient voice for ancient ways. Stanley tours and performs with the vigor and elan of a rock star.
