The Moody Blues at The Stanley
Wrap up Boilermaker Weekend with classic rock at The Stanley on Sunday, July 11 at 7 pm.
Tim Reed, Executive Director of the Boilermaker said, "The Boilermaker is excited to partner with The Stanley to offer a closing event for Boilermaker Week. The Moody Blues, like the Boilermaker, represent the best in class in their respective categories. Both have created life-long memories, established a dedicated fan base and have a proven ability to expand and grow over the long run. Many in the music industry have run the 50 yard dash of fame and faded from view; The Moody Blues have the stamina to still run 9.3 miles."
Rolling Stone magazine calls THE MOODY BLUES "the Sistine Chapel of popular music."
Since the 60's, as a part of the historic original British invasion of Supergroups, The Moody Blues have lit up the hearts and minds of millions of rock fans with inspiring anthems like Nights in White Satin, Tuesday Afternoon and I'm Just A Singer (In A Rock And Roll Band), that express universal themes of love, compassion and peace. The band's unique style of music consistently finds airplay on radio stations globally and continues to illuminate concert arenas around the world. From being immortalized on The Simpsons to having their music featured in movies, television and in such national advertisement campaigns as this year's TV ad for VISA featuring Tuesday Afternoon, The Moody Blues are embedded in not only music history but in pop culture.
Since they first hit the rock scene with the release of their monumental 1967 album DAYS OF FUTURE PASSED, The Moody Blues have continued to produce music that bridges the gap between classical and pop-rock genres without ever wavering in their integrity and commitment. Featuring the altruistic inflections of guitarist/vocalist Justin Hayward, bassist/vocalist John Lodge and drummer Graeme Edge, The Moody Blues' sound has held its ground with exquisite harmonies over and over again, in a genre of music that is ever changing. Since their formation in England, The Moody Blues have created music time and time again that offers rock music a depth that is unprecedented and inspiring.
The Moody Blues have sold in excess of 70 million albums worldwide and have been awarded an astonishing 14 platinum and gold discs. Their incredible roster of hits include: Nights In White Satin, Ride My See Saw, The Story In Your Eyes, Isn't Life Strange, Question, I'm Just A Singer (In A Rock And Roll Band), Your Wildest Dreams, and I Know You're Out There Somewhere, to name a few. The Moody Blues' No. 1, Top 5, Top 10, Top 20, Top 40, Multi-Platinum, Platinum and Gold albums and singles, have generated sold-old tours on a consistent basis over the course of several decades, making them one of the top-grossing album and touring bands in existence.
The Moodies released the Image Entertainment DVD and CD THE MOODY BLUES: LOVELY TO SEE YOU, LIVE in 2005, recorded at the historic Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. This recording was pure Moody Blues, marking the first live performance recorded sans orchestra, since their historic 1969 live release THE MOODY BLUES LIVE +5.
In 2008, The Moody Blues and Universal Music Enterprises re-released the group's first seven albums, containing the band's legendary chart-topping singles of the 60's and 70's. Each re-release by UMe features exclusive bonus tracks, alternate versions, radio sessions and outtakes; telling a story about the progression of rock & roll while diving into further detail with the inclusion of live BBC recordings and bonus tracks.
With a 2009 tour in progress, the legacy of The Moody Blues continues to live on. As the world continues to revolve on its axis during any time of economic and political uncertainty, The Moody Blues have always been there to provide the world with live music that is engaging and appropriate to the times.
Tickets, priced from $24.50 to $86.00, go on sale Friday March 19.

CATS at The Stanley
The show that revolutionized musical theatre is coming to The Stanley in Utica, New York for one special performance 7:30pm Wednesday July 14, 2010! Tickets go on sale at 10am Friday June 18 at the Stanley, 315-724-4000 online www.StanleyTIX.com, and through ticketmaster.
Produced by CATS-Eye, LLC, the national tour of CATS is the only production in North America sanctioned by Andrew Lloyd Webber. With original direction by Trevor Nunn and choreography by Gillian Lynne this is the CATS credited with the British invasion of Broadway. The national tour of CATS recently celebrated its 27th anniversary season, holding its place as the longest continuously touring Broadway musical in history.
On May 11, 1981, CATS opened at the New London Theatre in the West End. Eight years later, it celebrated its first important milestone: after 3,358 performances CATS became the longest running musical in the history of British theatre. CATS played its final performance on its 21st birthday, May 11, 2002.
CATS opened on Broadway October 7, 1982 at the Winter Garden Theatre in New York City and continued to live up to its motto "Now and Forever." On June 19, 1997, CATS became the longest running musical on Broadway. It ended its 18-year run on September 10, 2000 with 7,485 performances. That record was broken by The Phantom of the Opera on January 9, 2006 when Phantom celebrated its 7,486th curtain.
Based on T.S. Eliot's Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats, and with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, CATS won seven 1983 Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, Best Lighting and Best Costumes.
In October of 1991, CATS became the longest continuously touring show in American theatre history. Five continents, 26 countries, over eight and a half million audience members and 27 years later, CATS is still America's most loved family musical. Celebrating not only 27 years but the birth of the musical spectacular, CATS is still revolutionary and awe inspiring.
Now that it has been seen by millions of audience members worldwide, it is time to celebrate with the whole family the magic, the mystery, the wonder of CATS.
7:30pm Wednesday July 14, 2010 at the Stanley-Live on the Edge of Your Seat!
Tickets on sale Friday, June 18.

Claire Lynch Band
The Earlville Opera House presents the Claire Lynch Band on Saturday, July 17 at 8 pm.
Claire’s musical direction dates back to the days of the Front Porch String Band, resulting in a seasoned sound that is simultaneously unpretentious and richly textured. It’s a down-home, front porch sensibility—until you realize that it’s a rare front porch, indeed, that has ever hosted musicians of this caliber. Ontario native Jason Thomas brings monster chops on fiddle and mandolin, supported by remarkable musical versatility and imagination. The band is grounded by bassist Mark Schatz’s deft touch and masterful instinct for groove. And Matt Wingate is a remarkably soulful young gun whose mature improvisational musicality is seemingly far beyond his years, making him instantly at home in one of the greatest bluegrass bands currently on the scene.
Dolly Parton credits Claire with “one of the sweetest, purest and best lead voices in the music business today.” Claire’s harmonies have graced the recordings of many stellar musicians, from Ralph Stanley to Linda Ronstadt. Equally gifted as a songwriter, her songs have been recorded by The Seldom Scene, Patty Loveless, Kathy Mattea, The Cherryholmes, The Whites and others.

Earlville Opera House Circus
Who can resist the call of the greatest show on earth? This fantastic show features the children from EOH Circus Workshop showing off the juggling, tightrope walking, tumbling and clowning skills they learned. Full of surprise and delight, this special event is all of the curious, playful, imaginative, and creative things that only kids can invent. The greatest show on earth is every kid’s dream come true!
The EOH Circus performance will take place at the Hamilton Central School on Friday evening, July 30. Midway Games will be at 6pm and the performance will start at 7 p.m.
Youth ages 6 through 14 have joined the EOH Circus troupe for two weeks of fun and merriment, with Circus Theatrix teaching the fundamentals of producing a circus. Children have spent the two weeks learning the skills of clowning, diablo, rola-bola, stilts, balance beam, tumbling, juggling, globe, unicycle, as well as other circus arts and now it is time for their really big show! Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children, but no one is turned away for lack of funds. The Hamilton Central School is located on West Kendrick Street.
